BACKROUND

METANOIA (Greek: μετάνοια) signifies a fundamental shift in mind, a transformative change of heart. This work was born in the immediate aftermath of losing my job. It was a moment of internal collapse that I met with intuitive, raw action on the canvas. It marks the precise second I decided to stop following a path that wasn't mine and finally commit to my life as an artist.

The Spectrum of Extremes I feel the world in its full, uncensored spectrum, moving from the bitterest depths to the most radiant heights. I chose a radical black-and-white palette because the contrast between these two carries more facets and tension than any color ever could. In this piece, the darkness is not just a background but a living presence that surrounds the light. It reflects how the shadows in my own life often threatened to dominate, yet they provided the very stage upon which the light could finally emerge.

Structure and Rebellion Creating METANOIA was a laborious and patient process. I built each organic form layer by layer, carefully carving them from the chaos of my emotions. Although they are clustered together, every shape has its own direction to reflect the scattered yet interconnected parts of a self in transition. Even the format was an act of defiance. 

By breaking away from the horizontal landscapes of my past and choosing a vertical, towering orientation, I found a way to finally stand up. It is an invitation to find clarity within the contrast and to recognize that true transformation requires the courage to face the dark to truly see the light.
