THE STORY BEHIND

Created in 2023, PONTOS represents a pivotal, early chapter in my journey. At the time, my creative practice was a sanctuary reserved for the night, which was a space where I processed the emotions of the day through form and texture. It was here, in the quiet hours, that I first began to explore the three-dimensional structures that now define my work.

The Dialogue of the Tide The title refers to Pontos, the primordial sea of Greek mythology. Rather than depicting the ocean itself, the work reflects the sensation of being within it. The heavily textured, wave-like structures surge around a group of organic forms, much like stones being shaped and softened by the relentless movement of the tide.

There is a deliberate tension here: the surrounding field is unsettled and turbulent, yet the central forms remain contained. They are like islands of stillness amidst the flow.

Light in the Chaos While the palette remains grounded in earthy tones, the gold serves as a vital anchor. These are points of light, like moments of hope that interact with the surrounding environment. Depending on the time of day and the angle of the light, these golden accents emerge from the shadows, offering a constant, quiet presence within the visual unrest.

PONTOS is an invitation to interpretation. It is a study of how we are shaped by the forces around us, and how we find our own center when everything is in flux.
